It has been an honor to serve you in Augusta, the last few years as your State Senator, and for some of you as representative for the prior two sessions of the Maine Legislature. I am pleased to announce my candidacy to again serve you in the County Commissioner, in District 2, which includes the 20 communities of southern Penobscot County: Carmel, Charleston, Corinna, Corinth, Dexter, Dixmont, Etna, Exeter, Garland, Glenburn, Hampden, Hermon, Kenduskeag, Levant, Newburgh, Newport, Orrington, Plymouth, Stetson and Hudson.

As a life-long Mainer, small business owner, and a parent of three children, and grandparent of four (soon to be five!), I am concerned that we are not focusing on the areas that have historically made our state strong and vibrant. Instead government is placing an immense burden upon our citizens and the businesses that offer good jobs. The results are restricting the creativity and resources we need to get Maine moving again.  Having the honor of serving  in the Legislature, as a local councilor and now at the county level has given me a unique perspective. I feel there are opportunities for county government to coordinate certain services and better support or local governments. We are now focusing on a new correctional facility to both serve the current needs of our inmates and reduce the overcrowding which has been a challenges for several year.

We need government to focus on that which it can and must do and not get into areas in which it does not need to be.

It was an honor to be selected to fill the remainder of Tom Davis’ term, he left some big shoes to fill after 38 years of dedicated service. I hope to continue in this role and work to better the services county government provides to our communities.

I look forward to meeting you and hearing about your interests and concerns. I would appreciate your input and support.

I have chosen to run as a traditional candidate, meaning I will not accept taxpayer funds to run for office. To be true to my pledge to respect your tax dollars I can’t ask for more of them to run for office, so I must earn your financial support as well as your trust.
